Tuesday, August 25, 2009, 4:00pm - 18th Annual "Swing Into Fall" Golf Tournament Meeting - Chamber Office - It's time to plan for our golf tournament. The event date is Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Timber Creek Golf Course. You don't need to be a golfer to be on this committee. Golfers/sponsorships/volunteers are needed. Please let us know if you would like to be a part of this fun committee. We look forward to working with you.

Tuesday, September, 1, 2009 - New Texas Laws - Texas Department of Public Safety has issued new traffic and criminal laws set to go into effect September 1st. All occupants of a vehicle are required to be secured by a safety belt, regardless of age or where they are seated in the vehicle. It is illegal to use wireless communication in a school zone unless the vehicle is stopped or a hands-free device is used. For more infomation on these and other new laws including those on concealed handguns, motorcycles, intoxication, and vehicle inspections, please refer to the DPS website at www.txdps.state.tx.us.

Gilmer from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. He will discuss the economic outlook for Houston and the Gulf Coast. This will include a brief discussion of the main drivers for Houston--The US economy, global economic conditions and the oil market. Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 10:30am-1:30pm - 2nd Annual "BBQ" Sales - Barbecue sandwiches will be available at the Chamber office. Prepared by: Steve Anderson, TNMP. Delivery is available (orders of 15 or more) or stay and enjoy your lunch at the Chamber office. The cost is $5.00. This includes a chopped beef sandwich, chips, cookie and a drink. Briskets will also be available for $40.00. However, only 20 briskets will be available so make your reservation soon... Hosted by the Special Events Division. Proceeds benefit the annual Golf Tournament towards door prizes. Friday, September 11th is the deadline to order your brisket or BBQ lunch.

Brick Project - The Friendswood Chamber has completed Phase I and II of the Brick Paver Project and we have a 1500 sq. ft. outside patio for after hour business mixers and meetings. The Chamber is now promoting Phase III of this project allowing others to be included. The purchasing of a brick is a great way to permanently honor a family member, friend or your business, while at the same time contributing to a worthwhile cause in supporting the Chamber.
